Our focus is the application of digital photography and image editing technology to create high resolution finished images suitable for large format printing:

All of our pieces start with the capturing of a large number of source images using a digital camera. These source images are then processed (as described below) to produce a final, finished image ready for print. Scroll down to read a little bit about the various steps along the way, as well as take a peak at the end result.

Feel free to use the navigation bar at the bottom of every page to explore the site. Thanks for visiting!
The capturing of the source images is only the tip of the iceberg. With a little help from our proprietary software (which enables batch processing by automating the tedious initial work), the raw source files are prepared for further editing.

The software for digital editing (both industry standard and proprietary) opens up a whole world of opportunities to be creative. It is this digital editing that allows for the creation of our unique finished images.

Every image requires individual attention, and the exact procedure is not the same for each. There are, however, certain steps along the way that all images have in common. These two most important stages of the process are:

  • High Dynamic Range (HDR) / Tone Mapping
  • Panoramic Stitching
These two steps represent the heart of our digital editing process. The basic concepts, as well as the importance of each, are briefly explained and illustrated visually below:
Computers & Software
Multiple exposures are combined to produce a single HDR (High Dynamic Range) image and subsequently tone mapped. This process compensates for the limited dynamic range of a single exposure, and helps to reproduce the scene in a dramatic fashion with more detail (especially in the shadows and bright areas).

Once the multiple exposures have been combined to produce tone mapped HDR images, the next step is to stitch a bunch of them together to create one continuous panoramic image. This not only increases the field of view, but also increases resolution (allowing for larger prints while not sacraficing any quality).

The result of the stitching can be seen below:

The next step is to create a large, fine art print from the high resolution, high dynamic range, stitched panorama. Producing the fine art prints ourselves with our own in-house equipment gives us complete control over the entire process. This level of control, along with the use of only the finest premium papers and inks, ensures:

  • optimum color accuracy
  • maximum print resolution
  • increased longevity

Custom framing is the final step before the finished product is ready for display (as seen below):
